Best new tech this month

Nuclera
Protein expression optimization
Nuclera, the biotechnology company accelerating protein expression and purification workflows through its benchtop protein system, has successfully completed 11 installs of its eProtein Discovery system. Custom protein reagents, required in drug discovery, are challenging to manufacture both in terms of cost and time associated. The eProtein Discovery platform overcomes this unmet need by providing rapid access to challenging proteins in a benchtop system in less than 48 hours.

Bio-Rad Laboratories
Antibody markers
Bio-Rad Laboratories has launched three new StarBright Red Dyes – StarBright Red 715, 775, and 815 – and an expansion of its StarBright Violet Dye series with 29 additional highly validated antibodies conjugated to StarBright Violet 570, 515, 440, 670, 790, and 475 dyes. Now totalling 32 dyes spanning multiple lasers, Bio-Rad’s range of StarBright Dyes expands translational and immunological research.
Broken String Biosciences
Cell and gene therapies
Broken String Biosciences, a genomics company working on next-generation cell and gene therapies, has entered a research collaboration with the Francis Crick Institute. In partnership with researchers at the Crick, the project aims to develop novel applications for Broken String’s proprietary DNA break-mapping platform, INDUCE-seq, beyond its established capabilities in gene-editing. The research will be focused on leveraging the technology to investigate the impact of genomic instability in the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – a debilitating neurodegenerative disease.
