Biomedical scientists honoured

Two biomedical scientists who are IBMS members were acknowledged in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this year:

  • Ann Hannah, Rapid Response Laboratories and Histology Manager, was awarded a BEM for her services to healthcare during the pandemic.
  • Professor Stephen Holgate, Medical Research Council, Clinical Professor of Immunopharmacology at the University of Southampton, was knighted for services to medical research.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours List demonstrates the breadth of service given by people from all backgrounds from all across the UK. Of the 1495 people who received an award this year, 537 received a BEM, 561 an MBE and 260 an OBE.
